About Shoe:

My name is Eric Lee Shoemaker, but I mostly go by the nickname “Shoe”. Armstrong was my first choice out of high school because I had heard of their well-known Physical Therapy program and their smaller classroom sizes, as well as the beach atmosphere and the joys of living in beautiful Savannah. I’ve had a variety of experiences at AASU, some challenging but most enjoyable, over the course of my time here. As a full-time student, active organization member, and employee of Armstrong, my experience here has both challenged and enriched my life, giving me the knowledge and the motivation I need to accomplish my dream of becoming a Physical Therapist. I’m a very “easy-going” guy by nature and I always go out of my way to help someone in need. I pride myself in making people smile, as well as sharing the knowledge I have gained with others (both inside and outside of the textbooks). I like to live my life actively and be the best possible person I can for my community, wherever I may be. My experience here at Armstrong has made that possible for me.

About Lauren:

My name is Lauren Geiger. I’ve been at Armstrong since 2008 and I’m ecstatic about graduating in May. I originally decided to attend Armstrong because of its amazing physical therapy program but quickly found out that I’m not a math/science kind of person. After that, I bounced around to various majors in search of my niche. My search involved taking a break from Savannah and moving to New York for a semester, coming back to Armstrong, switching my major to Psychology, finding out I was still just as bad at math and science as I was freshman year, and then coming to a screeching halt as an English major. I fell in love with the Languages, Literature, & Philosophy Department and that’s where I stayed.

Besides school, I love photography, hiking, camping, kayaking, traveling, and visiting cemeteries in Savannah. A quiet day at Bonaventure is a never-tiresome experience for me. There are so many hidden gems in Savannah and I love discovering them. Being a student at Armstrong has changed me in so many wonderful ways and has turned me into someone who I’m proud of being. Without Armstrong, I would’ve never had the opportunities to embrace life and explore new places that are on and off campus.

  1. Being “Shoe’s” Mom, I am naturally inclined to agree on all his attributes. As a parent, in general, we try to do our very best in raising our children to be happy, productive, well-adjusted citizens of the world. It is for the good of your child to prepare them for what life has to offer and to teach them skills in dealing with difficulties in life. The word “pride” does not adequately express what I feel about Eric’s accomplishments as a student at Armstrong Atlantic State University as well as in his life span of nearly twenty-three years now. I feel his desire to attend Armstrong Atlantic State University indicates a well-grounded individual with clear goals in life. As his parent, I am deeply grateful for this path in his life.
